Bogavac Master Class Pushes Heels Past Tigers on Senior Night!!

March 4th, 2026, a day that will likely go down in history, was senior night. Seth Trimble was honored last night. Trimble, being recruited from UNC as a 16-year-old from Wisconsin, came in and battled his tail off for 4 years, and now he is a true leader in Carolina Blue.

This season has been full of ups and downs. Seth Trimble injured his forearm, losing handily to MSU on Thanksgiving. Losing 2 times in California, then Caleb Wilson getting injured, but beating Duke, UVA, Kentucky, and Kansas was pretty cool and awesome.

But to finish out the regular season, the team would get a rematch against Duke, but before this game, the Heels would get the pleasure of playing the Clemson Tigers. But before that, Seth Trimble and Elijah Davis were honored as seniors.

The Game started like a true fairytale, Seth Trimble was given the ball for an open catch and shoot corner 3, to open up the scoring of the game 3-0 Tar Heels. Tar Heels would take a 6-2, but the Tigers would respond, and throughout the half, each team would go blow for blow, but it would be an extremely low-scoring half. An RJ Godfery 3, along with Jestin Porter’s triple, gave Clemson the lead.

The Heels would battle the rest of the half to keep the game close, and Henri Veesaar hit a deep 2 to cut the lead to 2. That bucket ended nearly a 6-minute scoring drought. Luka Bogavac would reclaim the lead with his first 3 of the game. With 5 minutes left, the score was 25-23. Clemson would take the lead at half with an amazing 3 by Efrem Johnson to make the score 30-27.

At the half, UNC did not have anyone really wowing the stat book; Derek Dixon and Henri Veesaar had 6, and Zayden High came off the bench with 4. The Clemson Tigers, on the other hand, had RJ Godfrey with 9 points and 6 rebounds. This was just the beginning, as Godfrey would have an amazing 2nd half.

Coming out of the locker room, the game started with each team scoring quick 2s. But the tone of the 2nd half was set by Luka Bogavac, who hit a beautiful transition 3. But Godfrey would remember that he has teammates, and would find Carter Welling on the wing who would knock down an open 3 to extend the lead to 5 for the Tigers.

Bogavac and Veesaar would help regain the lead as Bogavac would hit his 3rd 3 of the night with 15 minutes remaining to make the score 38-37. The Heels would go on a 12-0 run. to take a 44-37 lead. But Clemson would respond quickly to make it a 44-42 game. Then Godfrey would have a phenomenal play, beating Zayden High in just about every possible way to score 2 points to tie it.

In response, Johnathan Powell had the weirdest shot I have ever seen. As the Shot-Clock was getting to 0, Powell would have to hoist up a prayer, the shot would hit the rim, the backboard, then the rim 3 more times before falling in. This shot would make the lead 47-44. Godfrey would once again continue the day of his life, driving right into Veesaar and scoring. Then the next time they would score would also be Godfrey, who hit a fading hook on Veesaar to get the lead. Veesaar would quickly get the lead back.

Godfrey would make sure the Tigers did not go away yet; the Tigers would reclaim the lead. But the Tigers forgot about Luka; he would hit a 3 to tie the game. His 4th 3 of the game. But Welling would respond with a 3 of his own, the tigers led by 2. But Bogavac would hit a tough step-back 3 to reclaim the lead. Then Veesaar would finally get the upper hand on Godfrey by blocking his lazy layup attempt. This would give possession back to the Tar Heels.

This is where all Tar Heel fans should write a thank-you letter to Luka Bogavac. Luka hit a falling triple to extend the lead to 2 possessions. But are you aware of a name that was not said much between the whistles? Seth Trimble. He would leave his mark on senior night, finally, after he would hit a massive freethrow line floater. Only 8 points for Seth to that point, to make a 5-point lead.

The final 2 minutes of this game were absolute Cinema. Ace Buckner hit a 3-pointer to cut the lead to 2. Dixon hit a massive 3 to extend the lead back to 5. Then Henri Veesaar would foul out with 37 seconds left in this game. Hunter made both free throws. Hunter had an easy 2, just 15 seconds later, making it a 1-point game. Luka Bogavac would get fouled trying to get the ball across half court, meaning he would go to the line to shoot a free throw, and made both to extend to 3 again. Rinse and repeat, except Hunter missed the 2, and with .9 seconds on the clock, Seth Tremble would get a chance to end his senior year on a high note, not from the free throw line; he hit 1 and in between shots, Elijah Davis got to sub in one final time on his home court, the walk-on, the coaches son.

The Clock expired, and the Tar Heels were officially 18-0 at home for the first time. Now the team looks ahead to the school in Durham for a chance to sweep their cross-town rival.
