This football season, I got the amazing opportunity to be on a talk show called The Prowler Hour, hosted by Bobby Hamby, Jay Reynolds, and Kenneth Fallaw. We discussed our hometown football team, the Ninety Six Wildcats, along with other local high school teams. Then we would close out the show with a little college football banter. It was the highlight of my week, and here’s how I ended up on the show:
I started the 2025 season doing film for the varsity team. After the Wildcats went to Emerald and got beaten by 28 in a shutout win for the Vikings, I was talking with a friend who had gone off to college when I saw Bobby walking up to me. He had heard that I dreamed of being on the radio one day and wanted to help me get started. He invited me to come on their show, The Prowler Hour. They met at Derick’s Cafe one night a week, so in addition to being on the talk show, I also got one of the best burgers around. At first, I thought it would be a one-time thing, but after episode one, Bobby just said, “See ya next week,” so I went back, and I loved every minute of it.
During my time on the show, I got the chance to get to know Bobby, Kenneth, Jay, and Lee Collins (another regular on the show). I learned a lot about college football, how to be on a talk show, and a good bit about Abbeville Panther football. Now and then, they’d hand me the floor to talk about the games I’d been to, whether it was a Carson-Newman game or a Newberry College game to watch former Ninety Six football players.
I absolutely loved my time on the show, and I’m forever grateful to Bobby for inviting me to be part of it.
Check out the Prowler Hour Spotify channel and listen in for my occasional input.
