A Christmas Nightmare: NFL Has Snooze Fest On Christmas

Christmas Day is a day filled with lots of fun, regardless of what sport you prefer, Basketball? Sit back, relax, because from 12 O’Clock EST until midnight, you can watch nonstop basketball in the NBA. But what if you prefer the NFL? Most years, we get 3 very entertaining games that have playoff implications. Back in the day, it might be Patriots Vs Rams, or Eagles vs Cowboys, but this year the NFL got 2 games that were only meaningful for draft spot. Let’s take a deep dive into the week 17 Christmas games.

It all started in Washington, DC, with the Cowboys Vs the Commanders. With injuries, the Commanders ran out with 3rd string QB and career journeymen Josh Johnson, who had a respectable outing with 198 yards through the air, but the majority of the Commander Offense came on the ground from Jacory Croskey-Merritt, who had 105 yards and 2 TDs. In the end, the Cowboys outlast the Commanders 23-30.

In the only game that had some Playoff implications, the Vikings eliminated the Lions in a win of 23-10, despite only having 51 yards of passing offense. With the Lions eliminated, it opened the door for the Packers to clinch a playoff spot.

The Denver Broncos beat the Chiefs 20-13, in what could have been Travis Kelce’s last game in Arrowhead Stadium. Chris Oloduken did not light up the stat sheet, but had no turnovers and a TD.

The Christmas Day slate, all in all, was very boring. Hopefully, we can get some quality games in the week 17 and 18 slate. In the next few weeks, you can expect a Mock Draft for the NFL.
